We’re currently recruiting for weekend cafe assistants to work at the busy Pathfinder Cafe. Refurbished in 2021, the cafe was brought in house and is the hub of the airport. Over 90% of our customers are not pilots or passengers, they return time after time because of our great food, reasonably priced, in a stunning location. We’re popular with all age ranges.

Our core team of chefs and front of house staff have regular working patterns, and are supplemented on weekends by an additional flexible team, adapting to the seasonality of the business. Additional shifts are often available, particularly in the school holidays and over the summer, or for events. This role has core hours of 18 hours per week, which may be supplemented where desired.

We’re looking for friendly, hard working individuals, who will deliver a great service to our customers, and integrate with tight-knit team who make the Pathfinder Cafe such a fantastic place to work.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary role of the Café Assistant is to assist in the provision of high-quality food served in a timely manner, with great customer service. 

Duties associated with this include: 

  • Supporting the smooth running of the front of house and kitchen as a part of a small team. 

  • Providing the highest standards of customer welcome and care when assisting customers at the counter or table 

  • Giving advice, guidance and recommendations on products and menu selection to customers to ensure a positive experience and repeat business. 

  • Ensuring adequate stock levels of supplies and consumables for café area. 

  • Service of hot and cold beverages, cakes and other food items. 

  • Keeping the areas tidy and clean including table clearing, removing dirties and waste. This will include assisting in the kitchen with cleaning, and ensuring the bathrooms are kept clean. 

  • Responsible for security (product and cash), taking payments. 

  • Keeping up to date with special promotions and creating displays.

SHIFT SYSTEM & Roster

The Pathfinder Cafe will be open daily from 08:00-16:00. This role has the following contracted shifts:

  • Sunday: Full Day shift from 08:00-16:30 with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break

  • Monday: Late shift from 10:30-15:30

  • Tuesday: Mid shift from 09:30-14:30

In addition further shifts may be available on other days of the week, and some evening shifts will be available when functions are booked at the Cafe.

Staff receive 50% off all food and non-alcoholic drinks in the cafe. Staff on shift may have free barista coffee (if they make it!)

Blackbushe Airport provides an Auto-Enrolment Pension Scheme in which the company contributes 3% of the employee’s salary, and the employee contributes 5% of their salary.

We can only consider applicants who are aged 16 of over and of “School Leaving Age”, therefore must have completed their GCSEs.

Due to the rural location of the role, you will need your own transport.
