Airfield Fuel Update - UL94 Reverts to Colourless

Airfield Fuel Update – UL94 Reverts to Colourless

Due to ongoing industry concerns around dye, Subcommittee J/WK97478 of ASTM D7457 has extended the period during which unleaded aviation gasoline (including UL91 and UL94) may be supplied without colour.

Therefore, the UL94 as supplied by Greenergy Fuels Limited, and stocked at Blackbushe will be supplied in a colourless form rather than purple dyed until further notice.

We would like to reassure users that;

  • The fuel supplied and classed as UL94 from Greenergy (stocked at Blackbushe) meets all the applicable UL94 specifications, including the higher-octane rating of 94 MON.

  • Product quality remains verified in accordance with recognised aviation fuel standards.

Procedures for acceptance of fuel by operators, specifically UL94 will need to be altered from purple dyed UL94 to colourless UL94 until further guidance is issued from the ASTM. Some purple colour will still present when testing fuel as the tank dilutes with future deliveries.

We will keep you informed of any developments and changes as they become available.

Many thanks for your understanding. If you have any questions around these changes, please do not hesitate to get in touch with the airport admin office.
